Pool Play:
Game 1: My Sharks lost to the East Lawrence Lady Eagles 3-1 in a hard fought game. Bree started the rally in the first with a single to left and advanced to third on a passed ball. Jordynn sac flied her home. This would be our only score. Lacey had a double in the second, Melissa reached on an error in the 4th, and Nicole had a single in the 5th. Michelle, Sarah, Bree, Jordynn, and Danielle all drew walks but we couldn’t score them.
Game 2: My Sharks tied the Play It Again team in an interesting game. Lacey singled in the second and moved into scoring position on 2 passed balls. Danielled knocked her in with a single to center. Michelle added a double, Bree and Danielle contributed singles in the tie. Game note: PIA’s winning run was called back in the 5th inning after a 15 minute delay over whether the third base coach was in the coaches box when the “live ball” hit her. Fortunately for my sharks, a digital pic is worth a 1000 words and 1 run in our case!
Tournament Play:
We ended up second in pool play and drew the Cullman Crushers for our first tournament game. They are a tough hitting team. We got crushed but had fun anyway. Melissa went 2 for 2, Lacey, Danielle, Bree and Sabrenna added singles in the loss.
